Adventure Ride

Introducing Your Guide

I've been riding motorcycles for over forty years and started trail riding in the early 1980s exploring the green lanes of Derbyshire. During my riding career I've ridden club trials and competed to gold medal standard in long distance off road events. For many years I rode in UK hillclimbs and sprints and more recently I raced in Europe as part of a successful endurance racing team.

Adria circuit , Italy. European Vintage Endurance Cup Championship.

As a freelance writer and road tester for the motorcycle press I get to ride a wide variety of exotic stuff, everything from Bantams to Broughs and have accrued some valuable experience over the years. Hopefully I can pass some of this on to AdventureRide customers.

Following an accident a couple of seasons ago I decided to retire from racing. This coincided with a move to the heart of the South Shropshire hills which rekindled my interest in trail riding. It wasn't long before I discovered there are hundreds of miles of fantastic trails in this region and, unlike other areas of the UK, they aren't overcrowded or over used.

Since moving to the Marches I've had some amazing days out exploring the ancient byways and trails in the border region and have enjoyed some of the best days riding I've ever experienced. Hopefully AdventureRide will give me the opportunity to share this fantastic riding area with you.

Not Shropshire, it's the Dolomites and the event is the Moto Giro D'Italia. My riding chum is Hugo Wilson, editor of Bike Magazine.
